Turkish President Abdullah Gul will visit Indonesia on Sunday upon a formal invitation by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the Turkish Presidential Press Center reports.
Gul’s visit to Indonesia will mark the first visit of a Turkish president in more than 16 years.
The report says Gul and Yudhoyono are expected to assess bilateral relations, cooperation opportunities as well as regional and international issues concerning the two countries.
Gul will also attend a business forum in Jakarta, which will discuss economic cooperation opportunities between Turkey and Indonesia.
He is scheduled to lead a conference at the University of Indonesia to assess recent developments in the Middle East and North Africa.
The parties are expected to sign agreements in various areas to boost relations between Turkey and Indonesia.
Gul is expected to return to Turkey on April 7.
