The Arab
department at Radio Netherlands Worldwide has published an on-line Voting
Compass for the Egyptian parliamentary elections. The site, created in
collaboration with the VU University Amsterdam, helps voters select the party
which represents their viewpoints best.

As a result
of the political upheaval in Egypt and the forced resignation of former
president Hosni Mubarak free parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held
in stages starting on 28 November. The Voting Compass was developed to
stimulate Egyptian voters to go to the polls and support them in making their
political choices.
The questions
and viewpoints in the Voting Compass were drawn up in collaboration with a team
of Egyptian political scientists; based on official documents and statements
made by political parties and their leaders.
RNW and VU
University worked together with a number of local media partners and
universities such as Al Jazeera, Al Hayat-TV, Cairo University and American
University Cairo.
The Voting
Compass is independent and has no affiliation with any party, candidate or
government. The Voting Compass, a Dutch invention, is currently in use in 34
countries including Turkey, Canada and more recently Tunisia and Morocco. (gsh)
